Silent Cinema
Shhhh...
Movies under the stars, with the sound only you can hear.
Silent Cinema
Big picture sound, quiet neighbourhood
During our stay at Discovery Bay, Moonlit Movies was a ‘silent cinema’, where our audio partner, Silent Disco Asia, provided headsets for a unique sound experience.
To avoid bothering the neighbours, many Moonlit Movies events partner with Silent Disco Asia (HK) or use advanced technology to stream the audio directly to your own device.
Every ticket includes entry to the film, your own deckchair, and Silent Disco headsets — or access to the film audio via the Moonlit Movies app.
Silent Cinema turns an evening beneath the stars into a playful contradiction: a big-screen film experience delivered with an unusually quiet atmosphere. Guests can settle into their own deckchairs, settle back with drinks or dinner nearby, and follow the story without the sound spilling across the neighbourhood. The result is intimate and cinematic at once, balancing the scale of the outdoor screen with a more relaxed, shared sense of space.
For Hong Kong cinema-goers, Moonlit Movies offers a distinctive way to enjoy films with friends, family or a partner in a superb outdoor setting. Silent cinema events complement the wider programme of seasonal screenings, classics and specially selected features, allowing audiences to savour an evening away from ordinary routines. With glowing imagery, fresh air and carefully managed sound, the experience feels cinematic, atmospheric and suited to a complete night out under the stars.
